tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557445605639306552011-04-21T18:38:53.756-07:00Carinoreply@blogger.comBlogger51100tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-255744560563930655.post-56789997769153936912007-10-29T16:00:00.000-07:002007-10-29T16:08:56.204-07:00As you may or may not know, I moonlight 2 nights a week as a bartender at a little, laid back Rock 'N Roll bar here in Portland called <a href="http://www.myspace.com/redroomportland">Red Room</a>.<br /><br />I've found that Mondays can be somewhat slow, and in an effort to get you out of the house, I"m going to start hosting "Motokitty's Rock 'N Roll Craftacular" every Monday night from 9PM-2AM (you don't have to craft that late unless you want to!). <br /><br />Currently, there are lots of craft nights here in town. Some of you may not want to "get your craft on" at a bar - I understand. However, I'll be showing movies, popping popcorn, spinnin' tunes on the jukebox, and bringing different projects for you to create each week. <br /><br />Wanted to learn some basics on how to whip up a pair of earrings? I've always chuckled at those who have the slash job titles. You know, waitress/artist, musician/bartender, actor/cook. It's now in my life where I realize that the slash job titles are really to make sure one can stay afloat, and it makes sure I stay in fashionable shoes and clothes.. :)<br /><br />Anyhow, last night I worked @ <a href="http://www.myspace.com/redroomportland">Red Room</a> and was thoroughly impressed by the band <a href="http://www.doraflood.com">Dora Flood</a>. Named after a character in the Steinbeck novel, Cannery Row, this band rocked my socks off. Influenced by Radiohead, a dash of Blur, maybe a speckle of Ride, and some other pop-fused Brit bands, this group from SF was worth seeing. Nice guys, great music, and easily one of the best bands I've seen perform in quite some time. Check out their site, they're giving a bunch of their music away for free (in downloadable formats, of course)!<br /><br />I've been a busy little bee around the studio over the past few weeks. Some new designs I'll be unveiling at the <a href="http://www.thegirlieshow.net">Girlie Show</a>, and next thing you know, the holidays are here... <br /><br />I'll be posting some photos in a few days. Maybe even *gasp* a tutorial! If you've been to a craft show, you haven't seen anything until you've been to The Girlie Show. Pink, fluffy, rock 'n roll, fun, goodness. I LOVE THIS SHOW.
